What delivery times should I expect when ordering from Carryboy?

As a rule, we deliver to our customers at very short notice. Each hardtop or luggage compartment cover or other accessory is carefully checked by us before delivery, so that delivery can take place within 10 days.

For uncommon car colors, we expect delivery times of approx. 3 - 4 weeks, since your product will be painted by specialists in a qualitatively complex process. (We are also happy to deliver less common items, but please understand if we ask you to do so have to wait about 3 months for your part.)

What should I watch out for when painting a factory-primed hardtop?

We will deliver your hardtop fully assembled in primer white. You then have the choice of having it painted yourself or having it mounted on your vehicle in primer white. Very important: before the actual painting process, it must be "degassed" in the paint booth for approx. 45 minutes at 75 degrees as a precaution, so that later, when the sun is hot, no bubbles form under the paint!

Important: for reasons of time and money, please also note that your hardtop must be completely dismantled before painting and later carefully reassembled to avoid damage during assembly.

Which care instructions do I have to observe when handling the hardtop?


There are no special care instructions to be observed as long as the hard top is handled carefully and in accordance with the general rules for caring for paintwork. The cleaning of paint and rubber parts (e.g. window seals) as well as the woven fabric of the headliner s  can be done with soap and warm water.

The cleaned rubber parts should be dried at room temperature. After longer storage (6 to 8 months) these parts can be cleaned with a 1.5% sodium carbonate solution. Remains of the cleaning liquid are to be rinsed off with water. We recommend effective and particularly gentle cleaning agents. However, no solvents such as trichlorethylene, carbon tetrachloride or hydrocarbons may be used to clean the rubber parts.

You should not miss the annual care of the locks of your pickup cover at the beginning of the cold season. The Liqui Moly 1528 door lock care product, 50 ml (from €2.80) has proven its worth and is therefore highly recommended by us for lubricating and caring for the built-in locking cylinders of hardtops, luggage compartment covers and ignition locks, can also be used for locks in the house and garden .

How can I repair minor paint damage?

They can be repaired inexpensively by a specialist using a so-called "spot repair". Since our hard tops are plastic laminates, damage can be repaired with commercially available 2-component plastics, as they are known from boat building. Please ask us for details if required.

A sliding window is stiff?

Tip: Use silicone spray!

What is the best way to store my hardtop?

We do not recommend storing the hardtop hanging from the roof rails. Hairline cracks could occur due to the tensile load. Place 2 sufficiently stable boards underneath the hard top and pull it towards the garage ceiling.

Are CARRYBOY hardtops easy to repair?

Damage to the hardtop shell (GfK) can be easily removed with "Gelcoat". Google under "Gelcoat Repair Set" / Ebay / Sender for boat and yacht accessories - from approx. 9 euros - Smaller scratches and damage to the paintwork with a maximum diameter of 3 cm can usually be repaired inexpensively within a very short time with "Spot Repair". (see also http://www.spot-repair-shop.com)

Are hard tops waterproof?

CARRYBOY and NOVISauto hardtops are waterproof - but - the vehicle's platform is not waterproof - condensation can form, rain and spray water from the road penetrate the platform flap and sometimes leaking corners of the platform. This can be remedied - in part - by installing a load compartment liner. The CARRYBOY factory installs drainage slots below the side sliding windows of the hard top. Sweat and condensation from the interior are thus drained to the outside." In a few cases - e.g. if the hardtop is repeatedly dismantled and assembled - it can happen that water enters the front corners in the lower part of the hardtop. We recommend either the Renewal of the sealing foam rubber or sealing with a special, one-component window joint sealing compound in the cartridge (see "Powerfuge" from www.mem.de or "Disc Sealant Abtupbar" from www.wuerth.com, among others).
